Excel 103 HT is the first residential chimney product developed by the Industrial Chimney Company (ICC) of Quebec, Canada. While the company was formed in 1990, the principals have been leaders in the residential venting and fireplace industry for over 20 years. Doug Singer, president of ICC, was the R & D director for a major chimney company before starting ICC.
There is not a professional installer of wood stoves in North America who has not benefitted from a Doug Singer invention. Doug developed the first chimney to meet the 2100 degree Canadian S-629M standard. He developed the first chimney to pass the UL 103 HT standard in the United States. He invented the first 6 inch clearance double wall stove pipe, including the first one piece trombone slip section. He invented the first zero clearance air tight fireplace to pass EPA standards. Excel 103 HT has been in development for over two years, and represents the safest and easiest residential chimney system to install.
Excel 103 HT is 40% lighter than most insulated chimneys available. A four foot length of 6" chimney weighs less than 17 pounds, and weighs less than a comparable three foot length of our competitors product. By offering lighter four foot lengths, not only is Excel 103 HT easier to install, it requires 25% fewer connections so it's faster to install.
Lightweight insulation does not mean cooler inner liners. In fact, one inch of "THERMOPLUS" insulation has a greater thermal resistance than two inches of many loose fill insulations.
The best advantage of "THERMOPLUS" insulation is that it is chloride free. Many insulated brands of chimney suffer from pitting corrosion as a result of water penetrating their lock seamed outer liner and leaching out the chlorides contained in their silica insulation. Over time rust spots will appear on their stainless steel outer liners. While this process will be accelerated in costal environments, where there is a high concentration of salt, this process has eventually corroded their outer liners in interior environments as well.
Excel 103 HT chimney is the solution to this problem since "THERMOPLUS" insulation is chloride free, and our continuous welded seam outer liner is impervious to water penetration. There is simply no easier, faster or more durable chimney system on the market today!
Excel's 103 HT unique continuous welded seam construction eliminates the weakest link in conventional chimney designs - the lock seam. Continuous welding is slower and more expensive than lock seam construction, but it reduces mechanical stress under chimney fire conditions.
The inner liner is made from 300 series stainless steel, or a comparable 444 ferritic stainless, .016" thick. The outer casing is made from a 434 series stainless .016" thick making it the heaviest and most corrosive resistant in the industry.
Excel 103 HT's unique joint design virtually eliminates "hot spots" on it's exterior liner by minimizing the thermal conductivity from it's interior to exterior liner. 45 DEGREE ELBOWS. EXCEL 103 HT offers a 45 degree elbow. Contrary to popular opinion, you are allowed to use 45 degree elbows in the U.S. and ICC is the only chimney company that provides them to the U.S. market.
UNIVERSALLY SIZED SUPPORTS. All wall supports, wall bands, roof braces, roof supports, offset supports, and storm collars fit 6", 7", and 8" sizes. This eliminates 12 stock keeping units from your inventory, so that you can turn your inventory faster and not be out of a critical component.
ADJUSTABLE THRU WALL SYSTEM. Excel 103 HT wall supports and wall bands are horizontally adjustable from 2" to 6" clearance from the wall so that you can avoid exterior trims and eaves without additional framing. This complete system-is adjustable after the tee is installed.
ADJUSTABLE WALL SUPPORTS. Excel's wall support attaches to the exposed chimney above the exterior tee, so that the support can be adjusted vertically to attach to the exterior framing and not to the concrete pony wall.
ADJUSTABLE ROUND AND SQUARE CEILING SUPPORTS. A chronic problem for installers is the fact that all ceiling joists are not 16" on center nor is there always 14" between the joists or the centerline of the stove does not lineup with the center of the joist cavity. Excel 103 HT round and square ceiling supports are designed to minimum clearance dimensions ie: 6" square support 10 x 10 x 24, 7" square support is 11 x 11 x 24, and the 8" square support is 12 x 12 x 24. The round ceiling support also has varying sizes for each diameter pipe respectively; 6" round ceiling support is 12 x 12 x 24, 7" & 8" round ceiling supports are 14 x 14 x 24. This allows the professional installer to adjust the support between the joists to move the stove closer to combustibles. Both the round and square supports offer a 24" extension option which gives a combined finished length of 46" total.
Excel offers the smallest supports in the industry which compliments the new engineered framing designs in the construction industry of the 90's.
CHIMNEY AND SUPPORT TRIM RINGS. Excel now offers both chimney and support trim rings. The chimney trim rings are either available in flat or your choice of 3 pitches.
SIMPLIFIED ATTIC INSULATION SHIELDS. All of Excel's 105 HT ceiling supports are designed with taller cones so that they can double as an attic insulation shield by simply adding a storm collar. Otherwise Excel's radiation shield doubles as an attic insulation shield by simply adding a storm collar. Not only is this easier to install, but it saves you money and precious inventory space.
UNIVERSAL FIT CHIMNEY CAPS. All Excel 103 HT rain caps are compatible with all pack pipe on the market today.
